Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane to Address Cape Town Press Club on the Western Cape Water Crisis

The Western Cape is facing a drought that is rapidly becoming a catastrophe. With less than three months of water left, the City of Cape Town could become the first city in the world to have actually run out of water.

While the municipality is responsible for the supply of water to residents and companies, it is the national government that is responsible for the bulk water supply and management of what is now a scarce resource.

Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane will address the Cape Town Press Club about this issue for the very first time.

Ms Mokoyane has been in this cabinet position since the 2014 national elections and is one of two minister who is not a member of Parliament as allowed by the Constitution. Previously she served as Gauteng premier.

Due to the busy schedule of Ms Mokonyane and the importance of this matter, the Cape Town Press Club has decided to hold the event with her on a Sunday.
