Former president FW de Klerk on the state of the nation @ Grill Room, Kelvin Grove

It has been 25 years since South Africa's transition to non-racial constitutional democracy, and the country now has its fifth president. FW de Klerk, who initiated and helped to manage the transition process as the last president of the old dispensation, will assess South Africa's progress since then and the current state of the nation, ahead of the opening of Parliament in February and the upcoming general election later this year. He will consider the degree to which South Africa has succeeded in promoting the values on which our new society has been based and the prospects for the future.

Mr de Klerk will take questions.
